I have put "notification of an instant payment received" in as a Smart Subject and it is being ignored. My request for Help via email wasn't answered either. Does the Subject have to match exactly? For example with "notification of instant payment received" in will it accept "Item #290046236120 - Notification of an Instant Payment Received from fishinwith" ?? Is it case sensitive??

I cannot find any information in the Help section.

I can suggest some ideas -

1) Cut and past the "Notification of ..." from the email subject to the SmartSubject. Perhaps the capitalization or spacing is an issue.
2) Forward the "Notification of .." to yourself or to work. This should make an entry in the "expiring" SmartSubject. You can then make it non-expiring in preferences.

I did find for myself that if you use multiple from-addresses when you send email that each of these from-addresses must be listed as protected for the subjects to list in the SmartSubject list. This does not seem to apply to your issue.

Best of Luck

vqME will send mail even if you fail to use the correct email program settings, but it will not apply a signature nor add to the Allow List or Subject List:
  • Bypass All Features must not be checked: View your Preferences. Clear the checkbox next to the first option. Then save changes.
  • The "From" address must be listed on your page of Protected Addresses.
  • The "From" address must be confirmed with the server. Look for an alert at the top of your Acccount Status page.
  • You must send with both SMTP port 587 and Server Authentication (sometimes called "Use password when sending - but not SSL or StartTLS).
If this resolves your problem, please let me know by adding your comment to this support ticket. If it does not solve the problem, please call me after 11 ET am on Tuesday. We can explore further.

These emails are from PayPal and concern payments by Buyers for auction items. I cannot put the FROM address in the Protected Addresses because it is the buyers address and I don't know it until the email arrives.

I was under the impression that the Smart Subject concerned Subject and not FROM.

Ahh, PayPal... that's a whole different story. I can help you with this!

The most powerful and elegant feature of Vanquish is also it's most under-used feature. It can accept mail from PayPal, eBay, your bank, and other organizations at which you register your address - even of they uses various From addresses that you do not know in advance - and even if they pass along mail from other useres (for example, eBay bidders). Even more impressive, the phishers cannot use this feature to pose as PayPal or your trusted sender.

See this tip for details.
