If mail is no longer arriving into vqME or into your email program, check this tip. It describes 6 causes and solutions to the problem. Here, we expand on cause #1...
_____________
Send an email to both your vqME address and your protected address. Call it "Email Test #1 (2 copies)". If you receive at least one copy immediately, this indicates that your vqME mailbox is accepting mail and functioning properly. But if after 2 or 3 minutes, you do not receive the 2nd copy (the one that was sent to your protected address), it means that your outside email service is no longer forwarding mail to vqME. That's why one test message got through to your vqME mailbox while the other one is stuck at your ISP or hosted service...
Sometimes email services will reboot or perform maintenance - and then forget to load their list of forwards, POPs or other special user-set instructions. Your undelivered mail is probably available to you at your ISP or email service. Check their online "webmail" IN box. This can usually be corrected easily:
1. Try removing and then recreating the Email Forward option at your ISP or email service. That should fix the problem. To minimize the potential for misunderstanding or error, we recommend that you do this by logging into your ISP or webmail account and setting the option yourself - rather than with a representative on the phone. 2. It is possible that the outside email server may not forward mail that was previously accepted into their own webmail area. So run the same test again (call it "Email Test #2: (2 copies)". If you don't receive 2 copies in just a minute or two, contact your email provider and explain that the Forward Email option is not functioning.
3. Finally, if your email service cannot fix their forwarding feature, change your inbound email routing from Forward to POP (Not recommend as a permanent fix). Instructions are here: |
