|
vqSA and vqNow administrators typically change their MX record to point to the Vanquish security appliance. For vqNow, set your MX record to www.vqnow.com. For vqSA, set it to either a static IP address or the domain name of the new vqSA unit. It is best if the IP address has not previously been used with your domain name. [reason]
Question: How soon will I see results?
You will not see an immediate effect. It may take 1-2 days for servers around the world to become aware of the change. Mail that arrives with a gray stripe at the top is passing vqNow. Mail without the stripe is not yet routed through your security service. If you wish to see a more dramatic cut-over, you must log into or contact the registrar that maintains your domain records one or two days before you change the MX record. :- Change the "Time To Live" setting to 15 minutes.
- Later, when you change the MX record IP address, restore the original Time-To-Live setting (typically, 1 day).
If you briefly change the TTL setting in this way, mail sent from anywhere in the world will all be using your new IP address all at the same time and you will observe a nearly instantaneous cut over to your new security features. |
