On Feb 16-18, 2009, some vqNow users suddenly received a flood of spam labeled Filter Allowed or Sender Allowed. The problem did not affect users of vqME or vqSA. An update to the vqNow "Personal Smart Filter" caused this problem. This feature does not block spam. Iin fact, it does the opposite -- looking for desirable mail from strangers that should be delivered.
If you have experienced a sudden increase in spam during middle of February, these steps will stop the problem:- Click View » Allow List and then click the Date column to sort.
Place a check next to addresses near the top - the ones added after Feb 15@8:45 PM. If there are a great many, use the box at the very top to select ALL addresses and then begin removing the checkmark from the bottom. Click Remove from List (do not block them...Just remove them).
- Next click Configure » Preferences. UNcheck the mark next to "Personal Smart Filter". Be sure to Save Settings.
- Whenever you are viewing your lists, it's always a good idea to ensure that you do not have any of your own company addresses in there and that your own domain is on the Domain Exclude List (this is not a block list. It is very different!). Click here for more details.
