As most users are aware, full cutover instructions are linked to the new entry page vqme.net (Click "cutover" under your service name, either vqME or vqNow/vqSA). For vqME users, these instructions seem complex and unfair. While the process is certainly "unfair", it needn't be "complex"...

Where is my mail? 3 steps in Plain English...

For most vqME users there are 3 steps. Set aside the detailed instructions and consider these 3 steps from a bird's eye view. Once you read this, the grunt work will be less difficult, because you will have a better idea of what is needed!
  • Step #1 Using your temporary password, log into your new home page. Click "change password" at bottom left and follow directions. Then look around.
    • Webmail looks different. Most people choose Horde. It is fast and can be customized. If you pref the Vanquish Classic viewer, choose "Squirrel Mail.
    • The Antispam/Held Mail pages look very different. That part is now called Message Center.

  • Step #2: Skip this step if you use your web browser to send & receive mail, but not an email program like Outlook, Live Mail or Apple Mail. It explains that you must change 3 settings in your email program: Your UserID now ends in .net instead of .com. Likewise the names of both incoming & outgoing servers have changed to mail.vqme.net. That's it! The rest of Step 2 instructions deal with settings that do not change or most users.

  • Step #3: Skip this step if you give out your vqME address and do not use vqME to protect addresses from other services. It asks you to log into the user control page for you protected email address (typically, it is administered by your ISP or hosted email service). When you first started using vqME, you probably set a feature called "Email Fowarding". Change the forwarding address from {yourname}@vqme.com to {yourname}@vqme.net
For the majority of vqME users, that's it! You're good to go. But for a fraction of users, the Special Circumstances apply. Check out these notes (A,B,C & D) and see if any of it applies to you.

In step 3, you write

Shouldn't that be .net at the end?
